Halloween is Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. As of Oct. 26 we found no official trick-or-treat hours from the City of Melbourne or the Melbourne Police Department, so neighborhood trick-or-treating will be on the evening of the 31st. Some homeowners associations set their own times; check with yours. The city’s free indoor Spooktacular and downtown’s shop-to-shop trick-or-treat were on Saturday, Oct. 24, and are past. The last organized indoor option is the Candy Crawl at Melbourne Square, 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
Updated Nov. 2: Halloween 2026 is past, and every event on this page has taken place. We will post 2027 hours and events here in October 2027.
Updated Oct. 26: the Oct. 24 events are past; still no official hours from the city.

Indoor trick-or-treat at Melbourne Square
Melbourne Square, 1700 W. New Haven Ave., holds its free Candy Crawl from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Children in costume trick-or-treat at participating stores inside the mall, while candy lasts. The mall says costumes are encouraged but face masks are not permitted.
Already past this year
- The city’s free Halloween Spooktacular Indoor Trick or Treat at the Melbourne Auditorium, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
- Melbourne Main Street’s DTMB Trick or Treat downtown, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 (our downtown trick-or-treat page has the shop list).
Trunk-or-treat and other Halloween events
Trunk-or-treats, where decorated cars park in a lot and children go car to car, are usually run by churches, schools and community groups. These have published 2026 details (the Oct. 16 trunk-or-treat, flashlight pumpkin hunt and ghost tours at the Ascension patch, Crane Community Center and downtown are now past):
| When | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday, Oct. 29, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Costume Day at the Ascension pumpkin patch | 2950 N. Harbor City Blvd. |
Last year the Eau Gallie Arts District and Verdi EcoSchool held Halloween in the District on Oct. 18, 2025, with trick-or-treating at Highland Avenue businesses, hayrides, a costume contest and a movie. EGAD’s page still showed only the 2025 event when we checked on Oct. 26. We add public trunk-or-treats here as organizers post them.
Staying safe
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Halloween safety tips include:
- Trick-or-treat in groups if possible. Children under 12 should not be out alone at night without an adult.
- Visit only well-lit homes with the porch or outside lights on, and avoid shortcuts through backyards, alleys and parks.
- Add reflective tape to costumes and bags, and carry glow sticks or a flashlight so drivers can see you.
- Eat only factory-wrapped treats; check candy for tampering and for THC or CBD products that look like gummies or chocolate. “If in doubt, throw it out.”
- Keep your door locked while handing out candy, and report anything suspicious to police.
Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods from dusk on Saturday, Oct. 31.
