State report card
Florida grades every public school A to F each year. The grade is the share of possible points a school earns on state test results and learning gains and, for middle and high schools, acceleration measures and, for high schools, the graduation rate, according to the Florida Department of Education. For middle schools an A takes 64% of possible points or more.
| School year | Grade |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | B (63% of possible points) |
| 2024-25 | B |
| 2023-24 | C |
From the state’s 2026 school grades file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:
- English language arts: 63%
- Math: 70%
- Science: 55%
- Social studies: 75%
- Middle school acceleration: 80% (students passing high school-level courses or industry certifications)
The full report card, with results by grade and student group, is on the state’s Florida school report cards site. It is an interactive dashboard; the figures above come from the downloadable grades file.
Attendance zone and feeder schools
Students are zoned by home address. Check any address with the district’s School Zone Locator Map, which shows the 2026-27 elementary, middle and high school boundaries, or call Brevard Public Schools at 321-633-1000.
We checked the internal point of each of the 1,098 populated 2020 census blocks inside the city limits against the district’s 2026-27 boundary layers on Oct. 10, 2026. By that count, about 1,340 of Melbourne’s 84,700 residents (2%) live in the Central Middle zone. School zones do not follow the city line.
We found no feeder list on the district’s website: the zone map assigns each address separately to an elementary, a middle and a high school.
Inside the city, the homes zoned for Central Middle are zoned for Roy Allen Elementary at the elementary level; and Eau Gallie High at the high level. Shares are of Melbourne residents in this school’s zone, by our count; a few blocks with fewer than 100 residents are left out.
Boundary change. Comparing the district’s 2024-25 middle school boundary layer with its 2026-27 layer, about 3,840 Melbourne residents, all in the Roy Allen Elementary zone, moved from the Central Middle zone to the Johnson Middle zone. We did not find the board vote for that change; the district posts approved changes on yearly pages such as its 2025-26 attendance boundary page.
