The walk closes out Candlelight Shopping, Main Street’s four Saturday evenings of late downtown shopping. The earlier nights this year are Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28, the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 5 and the Cookie Crawl on Dec. 12.

Where it is and parking

The walk spreads across participating businesses in historic downtown Melbourne, the blocks around East New Haven Avenue. There is no single start point; stroll between the shops and galleries taking part. Melbourne Main Street’s office is at 2004 Vernon Place.

Tickets and cost

The walk is free and open to everyone, and no tickets are needed. The wine tastings and light bites are complimentary inside participating businesses. Anything you buy from the shops or artists is priced by them. Main Street asks people to RSVP through the event’s Facebook page, but that is not a ticket.

What to know

  • 21 and up for wine. Only adults 21 and older may sip, and the wine stays inside the participating businesses: do not carry it along the sidewalk.
  • What you will see. Local artists show their work, some paint live, and downtown shops put up holiday window displays. Watch for the Grinch.
  • Shops open late. Downtown stores stay open until 8 p.m. for Candlelight Shopping, so it is a good evening for local holiday gifts.
