The downtown tree lighting (2025, the most recent)
Melbourne Main Street lights the downtown Christmas tree each year. In 2025 the Tree Lighting Ceremony was on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Santa and Mrs. Claus there for photos. The city’s street-event notice for that night said:
- New Haven Avenue closed between Campbell Park and Municipal Lane from 2 to 8 p.m.
- Parking was free in city-owned lots.
The tree lighting opened Candlelight Shopping, four Saturday evenings downtown from 4 to 8 p.m. In 2025 they were:
- Nov. 29: tree lighting
- Dec. 6: Reindeer Games, a family game at each of 28 participating shops
- Dec. 13: the Cookie Crawl, $25 a ticket with a keepsake tin and a map of cookie stops; it sold out the year before
- Dec. 20: Stocking Stuffer Saturday
Main Street’s office is at 2004 Vernon Place. Watch its calendar in November for the 2026 dates.
The Sheriff’s Office holiday parade
Melbourne Main Street also promotes the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Holiday Parade, a law enforcement parade from agencies across the county that doubles as a toy drive for Brevard children. Main Street listed it on Dec. 3, 2025, starting around 5 p.m. near Hell ‘n Blazes Brewing on East New Haven Avenue. Main Street notes the parade can run a little behind because it travels down from the north.
Eau Gallie Arts District
The Eau Gallie Arts District holds its own tree lighting at Eau Gallie Square Park: Santa arrives for photos at 5:30 p.m., the tree is lit at 6 p.m. with live music, and a snow effect follows at 8 p.m. Its Deck the District market fills Highland Avenue between Montreal Avenue and Eau Gallie Boulevard from 4 to 9 p.m. with vendors, music and food trucks. EGAD’s pages list Dec. 5 and Dec. 14 without a year and had not been updated for 2026 when we checked; confirm with EGAD before you go.
