Florida law (s. 791.08) allows consumer fireworks on three designated holidays: Independence Day, July 4, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The Melbourne Fire Department’s safety tips cite the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission: an average of 180 people a day go to the emergency room with fireworks injuries in the month around July 4.
